Three Ways To Safeguard Your Affiliate Commission From Thieves!

One of the quickest and easiest ways to make money online is through Affiliate Marketing. The reason quite simply is because you don’t have to deal with any of the customer services or product creation headaches. All you need to do is recommend good quality products to hungry waiting buyers. Then wait for bucket loads of paycheques to arrive on your doorstep.

But beware: Your affiliate cash can disappear quicker than snow in June if you don’t protect your commissions. Here are the top three ways to start banking more affiliate cash as soon as today:

1. Stop using direct affiliate links.

I’m sure you are already aware of the benefits of cloaking (hiding) your affiliate links. This is a great way to stop hijackers from switching your affiliate links for theirs, and swiping your hard earned commissions when they buy the product. It also significantly lessens the likelihood of the buyer cutting off the affiliate part of the link and going directly to the sales page. (probably thinking that they will get a better deal by doing so)

But there’s another reason not to use direct affiliate links: Namely, because you could end up with hundreds of dead links all over the Internet.

Let me give you a scenario: Suppose you make a blog post or Twitter or include the link in an ebook and the vendor decides to pull the product, you’re going to left with a shed load of dead links. Not good!

Now, if you use a redirect link instead you can point that dead link to a similar product in just a few clicks. This could potentially save you thousands of dollars in commissions.

2. Watch out for these common sales leaks.

You must vet your sales processes thoroughly, or you may find that the sales vendor turns out to be the biggest thief! It could be that the vendor is new to the game and just doesn’t know any better, or it may turn out that the vendor is deliberately trying to cheat you.

Here are some things to look for:

Check if the sales page displays Google Adsense ads. A sales page should not have any distractions, some vendors don’t realize this. The only exits points on a sales page should be a back button or a buy button. There are those however who know exactly what they are doing, they get paid every time someone clicks on an ad and they get free traffic from us but we get no benefit at all.

Alternative payment options. Another sneaky way product vendors reach into your pocket is by offering multiple payment options on the affiliate landing page. This is only troublesome IF the customer chooses a different option.

An example would be if a vendor uses clickbank to track affiliate sales but encourages you to phone your order in.

This is one to watch out for. If a prospect has a question and phones in, the customer rep (or the vendor) sends him to a different sales page. This means that you will lose the commission.

3. Find out what loopholes the vendor will use to keep your money.

To finish off, here’s one last word: Please read the TOS (terms of service) and the affiliate agreement very carefully. You may find that vendor has a 90 day payment threshold or that they charge a horrendous accounting fee just to write you a cheque.
