I know it’s hard to believe, but thousands of people are making money from Adsense. Adsense, the inverse of Google’s Adwords system is a great way to earn a secondary income. However, the fact of the matter is that Adsense earnings alone wont make your rich. Ask website owners today about their earnings and you’ll find only a few who make anything substantial. All that said, I’ve discovered a few techniques for increasing my Adsense earnings.

What you make with Adsense depends on a few things. For example, the advertisements you display and where you display them can make the difference between pennies and dollars. Some important things to consider before placing your Adsense code would be ad placement and type. Consider placing code in multiple areas of your page and in different formats. Place at least one ad unit above the fold to ensure maximum exposure.

For anyone currently doing business with Google Adsense, you may be aware that Google does what it can to help its advertisers. They have even released a variety of information regarding best performing placements. Google recommends strong click through rates on ads that appear on the top, left, and bottom of a web page. Although varying sizes perform differently, half banners, and larger ad spots seem to perform well.

Placing ads within your the body of a web page is always a good idea. By providing context around your ads, you significantly increase click through rates. Sites that present ads off to the side rarely out perform web site that integrate Adsense into valuable content. These ads serve as a resource for browsers who are interested int he content being presented on your web page.

Another area associated with Adsense is the use of different ad sizes. In addition, trying various ad sizes in each location on your page can quickly change your earning potential. Not only is ad position important, but rotating and testing different ad sizes in each location can produce radically different results. Advertisers find that medium rectangles in content specific areas seems to work best. The best way to generate more revenue is to continually test ad performance.

The way in which you display your ads also has an impact on earning potential. Whether you are using the standard colors or a blended palette does make a difference. Some sites do better blending their ads in look and feel, making it more difficult for browsers to differentiate between content and ads. Others feel that contrast is necessary for users to notice ads. This may discourage click throughs but if other factors are fine tunes can have the opposite affect generating significant online revenue.

Use more than one ad on your page. Using multiple ad units is a great way to optimize your exposure. The ideal combination is usually two or three different ad units of different sizes. You don’t want your ads to overwhelm your page but at the same time, they should be noticeable. Ads that aren’t seen can’t be acted upon. Experiment to find the right number of ad spots for maximizing Adsense revenue.

Integrate and consider all of the elements we discussed in this article. Ad sizes, colors, and placements all have an impact on dollars earned. Unfortunately, the perfect combination of these factors can only be determined by experimentation and testing. Start with a few placements on your web page of standard sizes. Let your ads run for a couple of weeks before you start tweaking. Measure your responses daily and continue to try new placements. Soon you’ll be generating a nice income stream with Adsense ads.

Make More Money With Your Adsense

Can you make a living on earning Adsense commissions? Adsense to be a great way to a few extra dollars each and every day but certainly is not going to make you a ton of money. Ask website owners today about their earnings and you’ll find only a small handful making a substantial income. Ive learned how to increase my Adsense commissions over time and will share with you all Ive learned.

What you earn via Adsense is based on a number of factors including which ads you display and where you display them on your website or blog. Here are some key factors to consider before you place your Adsense code. The first is ad placement. Certain locations on your page tend to be more successful than others. Google has documented the ideal placement of ads based on their network of advertisers. Ads located above the fold tend to perform better than those below the fold. Ads placed near rich content and navigational aids usually do well because users are focused on those areas of a page and take action.

What is offered by Google as ideal placement is certainly useful as a guide. However, I strongly recommend that you consider your the behavior of your users first prior to deciding proper ad position. Think about user behavior on different pages of your website or blog and what will be most functional to browsers and their navigation. Find what works and apply it to appropriate web pages.

On pages where users are usually focused on reading article content, ads placed immediately below the end of the content generally perform very well. It is almost as if users finish reading and ask themselves what they should be doing next. Ads that are targeted can answer that question and get them clicking.

Ad format. Some types of ads do better than others depending on your content and layout. In my case, large rectangles in the middle of the content are best, while leader boards do not generate as much as income. Sky scrappers are the worst performers for me especially if they are on the right-hand side of the page. This is somewhat counter-intuitive to what I had originally thought. Experiment and measure the results via channels and see which formats work best for you.

Adsense Ad Color Palette. When your ads blend into content click through rates can improve. Sometimes however Adsense ads that contrast with your web site colors can show the best click through rates. Test a variety of ad colors to determine if different palettes generate different results. To determine which ad variation will work for you, test, test, test.

Number of ad units. Websites are generally permitted to display three ads, a search box, and a set of ad links. Keep in mind that you don’t have to display all available ad units. In fact, you should focus on placing ads in a way that do not clutter your web page. Users going to your page and reading your content may respond to a single ad placement if it is in the right place on your web page.

Test the variables noted above and see which combination for variables work best for your website or blog. Not all sites displaying Adsense ads generate significant results. Even if a website gets lots of visitors but they aren’t interested in looking for ways to spend their money, they won’t necessarily respond to the ads displayed on your site.
